Make a first edit

1. Select a local image

Select a PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, or GIF file in Explorer, or make one the active editor tab. The extension works with local files only and requires a trusted workspace before it can create output files.

2. Open the tools panel

Use either route:

• Press Ctrl+Shift+I.
• Open the Command Palette and run Synkronyx Image: Open Tools Panel.
• Right-click a supported image in Explorer or the editor, then select an item from the Synkronyx Image submenu.

The editor shows the source under Before and a rendered result under After. The focused control changes when a specific command, such as Resize Image or Crop Image, opened the panel.

3. Set the edit

Use the panel controls to change one or more of these areas:

• Resize by percentage or pixels, with an optional aspect ratio lock.
• Crop using pixel coordinates and dimensions.
• Adjust brightness, contrast, grayscale, invert, sepia, or Gaussian blur.
• Choose the output format, quality, and an optional output-size target.

The preview updates after a short delay when values are valid. A crop must stay inside the source dimensions. Gaussian blur accepts 0 or a value from 0.3 to 1000.

4. Save a separate file

Select Save As and choose a new filename with a supported output extension. The source image cannot be overwritten through the editor. A saved result appears beside the source unless you choose another location.

GIF behaviour

Animated GIF files are edited as a static first frame. Saving an animated GIF produces a static output image, so use a still source when preserving animation matters.
